Charity Quizzes
The Charity Quiz is one of the most well established ways of raising funds for charities, providing an opportunity for a fun event, while raising an awareness of the charity and its work.
Universally, people enjoy pitting their wits against others, and a
charity quiz is one of the friendliest and most cost
effective ways for charities to raise those much needed
funds.
There are all sorts of quizzes available on the internet, not all of them good! We recommend that you take a look at Education Quizzes, an excellent website, which not only provides well put together quiz questions about a wide range of topics, at various levels of difficulty, but also offers an unusual opportunity for charities to create a short online quiz about their own charity.
Each of these special quizzes consists of 10 questions about the charity - compiled by the charity - and each question has 4 multiple choice answers. Charities taking part include: The Salvation Army, The Donkey Sanctuary, NSPCC, International Red Cross and many more.
This is a fun way for charities to get their names known by many more people, particularly those interested in quizzes. Their topics include Mammals, Geology, Insects and Spiders, Plants, Books, Religions and so much more.
How can charities best use a charity quiz?
One of the best ways is through involving high profile local businesses, often raising several thousand pounds for the event.
Corporate Charity Quiz suggestions:
If your charity has a solicitor or an accountant or similar professional who has an extensive corporate or individual client list, and who are already supporters persuade them to host a Charity Quiz Night for your charity. Once they agree, and working with your charity, here’s how they can get started:
Promote the charity quiz and their support for
your charity through their corporate newsletters and through
personal letters from the Senior Partner to their
clients.
Giving good notice, send a personal
invitation to their clients with a short reminder
note signed by the Senior Partner saying how
much he or she would appreciate their involvement.
To ensure a good turn out, make phone calls to those
invited, reminding them what a difference their
involvement would make to your charity and it’s
work. Ask the Senior Partner to make some of these phone
calls, particularly to the wealthier corporate clients.
Prizes - Each client could be asked by
the Solicitor’s Office to donate a prize for an auction or
raffle which would take place half way through the Charity Quiz
Night. Clients may prefer to donate money instead – always a
good result!
Venue - Book out a function room at a good
local restaurant, or at a smart hotel
Refreshments - Arrange for wine, soft
drinks and snacks to be provided, which can be included
in the costs of the tickets
Arrange for an expert Master of Ceremonies, who
may well be one of the Solicitors themselves, perhaps a Senior
Partner.
Goals - The goal should be to host between 50 and
100 participants, each paying £25 (they can afford it, if
they are clients of your local Solicitor). During the
evening, auction the items donated, and mention all the
clients, companies or individuals who donated them. At the
end of the evening, award a prize for the winning team and a booby
prize for the team that came last. Most of all, thank
everyone for attending!
